How to organise a 1st Bday Party For A Little Bambino

There are few birthdays as special as a baby’s 1st birthday, but making the most of this wonderful occasion is never easy – particularly if you’ve never done it before.

At first glance, there are so many things to consider; the gifts, the invites, the food… and then there’s the age-old problem of the invite list. This is why so many people, unfortunately, make mistakes and forget to focus on what really matters.

My Little Bambino put together the ultimate first birthday party checklist to help you organise any 1st birthday party. Whether it’s your own little Bambinos, or perhaps a niece, nephew or cousin. To make it ultra simple to navigate, we’ve divided the tasks into an easy to follow list for you.

First birthday party checklist

1. Invitations: Guests need to know where to come. These days, people typically go against paper invitations and instead invite all the guests via Facebook or Whatsapp. Make sure you keep track of your RSVP’s

2. A venue: People often hire our local community centres or even the local village hall. The rates are typically very reasonable, but you could also consider hiring rooms in a number of places such as restaurants or family-friendly pubs.

3. A theme: This is optional, but from what we have seen there are hundreds of themes to choose from. We've seen Peppa Pig parties, a princess party, an ice cream party and an Octonauts party.

4. Decorations: Babies love balloons so try to get as many as possible. You can really go to town on the decor or keep it subtle. A good tip is to check pound shops and supermarkets for reasonably priced decorations. Additionally, many online shops will have loads themed decorations at a low price. Don’t forget to check out our personalised photo frames and consider having them dotted around the venue for the birthday boy/girl.

5. Food: You can do as little or as much as you like. Finger sandwiches, crisps, carrot sticks, and cucumbers are popular party food and are easy to make.

6. Cake: No party would be complete without a birthday cake, and of course the photo opportunities you will get from singing Happy Birthday and blowing out the candle.

7. Entertainment: Party entertainment can be costly, but you can save a lot of money if you do it yourself. Have lots of music, toys, balloons and arts and crafts – babies and toddlers will have fun whatever they are doing. Traditional party games like 'Pass the Parcel' and 'Musical Statues' are fun too.

8. Photography: The best thing you can do is hand the camera over to someone else so you don't have to worry about missing a moment fiddling with camera settings. Also, you will be in them too!

9. Timing: Choose the time of the party around nap times. You don't want your little birthday boy or girl to be tired and cranky. Additionally, it's a good idea to keep it one and a half or two hours.

10. Gifts: First birthdays deserve memorable gifts and presents that can be kept for years to come. My Little Bambino aims to take the stress out of the gift-selection process. We stock some very sentimental gifts such as photo frames to hold precious images, and accessories to create the perfect nursery. All the items we stock are bespoke and are suitable for both boys and girls.

And now we're ready to party... let's make it one to remember!
